A taught master’s in public health at the University of Toronto. Streams and practicum rules are set by the school — this is a professional postgraduate degree, not a general health-studies label.

An MPH is postgraduate training in how population health is measured, protected and improved — epidemiology, biostatistics, health systems and related practice — not a medical degree and not a nursing qualification.
Toronto’s MPH is organised in fields or streams. The one you apply to determines much of the curriculum and any practicum. Applying to “public health” as a vague interest is not the same as choosing a stream.
Length and internship/practicum requirements vary by option. Read the school’s current MPH page before you assume a one-year classroom-only year.
You should expect a mix of methods and applied public-health knowledge. The stream then specialises that mix.
MPH degrees typically include epidemiology and biostatistics at a level that assumes you can work with data and uncertainty, not only with slogans about health.
How care and prevention are organised — including Canadian context where the school places it — is usually part of the picture. Confirm the current cores.
Many MPH routes include a practicum or capstone. That is supervised professional learning, not a guaranteed job.
Fields such as epidemiology, health promotion or another listed option, if offered, change what you actually study. Choose the stream, not only the MPH title.

Graduate admission is by MPH field. A related first degree is typical; some fields expect quantitative preparation.
A four-year bachelor’s or equivalent is a common Canadian graduate bar, with a competitive average. Some fields prefer statistics, life sciences or social sciences. Check the field you want.
Some public-health fields value relevant work or volunteer experience. Where it is expected, the school will say so. Do not invent a years-of-experience rule from a forum.

The University of Toronto publishes graduate English language rules. An MPH is assessed against those rules, with any school-specific notes on the official page.
Prior degree study in English may exempt some applicants. Others need an accepted test. We do not reprint unofficial scores.

International graduate tuition at Toronto is set by faculty and programme. An MPH fee is not an undergraduate commerce fee, and it changes by year.

An MPH may prepare you for work in public-health agencies, NGOs, health systems, research support or further doctoral study. It is not a medical licence and not a guaranteed role.
Graduates may explore epidemiology, health promotion, programme management or analysis — depending on the field they completed.
Some continue to a doctorate or a professional degree. Those are separate admissions.
