Undergraduate program
An undergraduate Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences degree at UC Berkeley. It is a large, technically demanding major in a public university — with non-resident tuition for international students and a Bay Area housing market that is part of the practical picture.

EECS combines electrical engineering and computer science in one undergraduate major in the College of Engineering. You should expect large lower-division classes in popular subjects, then more specialised upper-division work.
Berkeley is a public UC campus. Admission is through the University of California application, not a private-institute process. Choosing EECS as a major is part of that campus and college choice.
The Bay Area technology economy is nearby. It is context for internships you might apply to — not a placement office guarantee and not a visa.
The major trains you in circuits, signals, computing systems, software and theory as the current EECS requirements define them. You will not take every topic in equal depth.
Mathematics, physics and introductory EECS subjects typically occupy the early years. The Academic Guide lists the current set.
Later courses let you emphasise computer science, electrical engineering or a mix. Options depend on what is offered and what you can enrol in.
High demand can mean large lectures and enrolment pressure in some courses. That is part of fit, not a ranking.

A four-year B.S. in the College of Engineering, with college requirements plus the EECS major.
Engineering undergraduates complete College of Engineering requirements as well as EECS. Both matter for graduation.
Moving into EECS after enrolment, if you did not enter it, is a separate and often constrained process. Do not assume you can switch in later as a backup plan.
Undergraduate admission is to UC Berkeley via the UC application, with EECS as a requested major in the College of Engineering. It is among the more selective engineering majors.
Required high-school coursework, essays and timelines are published by the University of California. They change. We will not freeze last year’s A–G list here.
We do not quote a Berkeley EECS GPA that “gets you in.” Selection is competitive and holistic within UC rules.
You will also need to meet UC’s international admissions instructions and English language rules.

Confirm accepted tests, scores or exemptions for the year you apply. We do not reprint unofficial numbers.
International undergraduates pay non-resident tuition. California resident rates do not apply. Engineering does not cancel that fact.
Use UC Berkeley’s current undergraduate cost of attendance for non-residents. We do not reprint a total that will be wrong next year.
Housing near campus is expensive and competitive. Budget it as a major line, separate from tuition.
Graduate EECS funding, if you later apply for a master’s or PhD, is departmental and different from undergraduate fees.
International undergraduate aid at Berkeley is often more limited than for California residents. The graduate award in our listing does not fund this B.S. Check current Berkeley and UC aid pages rather than assuming a package.
EECS can support pathways into software, hardware, research or further graduate study. The Bay Area is a labour market you might enter — not an outcome Berkeley owes you.
Graduates may explore computing and electrical-engineering work. Internships you obtain yourself are often part of that story. They are not listed as modules here.
Berkeley graduate EECS is a different, highly competitive admission.

UC undergraduate admission is an annual autumn start with a fixed UC application window. Missing it usually means waiting a year.
